<media:description>Calling AI APIs and LLMs can burn through your cloud budget faster than traditional workloads. Standard budget alerts warn you after you've already racked up costs, but they don't actually stop the traffic.

In this video, Mollie Pettit shows Martin Omander step-by-step how to set up hard spending caps on Google Cloud to stop surprise bills. We'll look at how spend caps work, configure one in the console, and run a live test on a Gemini API app to see what happens when the cap is breached.

<media:description>The fastest way to break a voice agent is a tool that takes two seconds.

In text, a 2s delay is invisible. In a live conversation, it reads as a dropped call, and the user starts talking over your agent.

So tools inside a live agent have to feel instant:
• Fast actions (play, pause, skip) → execute immediately
• Slow actions → acknowledge out loud, then run in the background

That's the whole difference between an agent that feels alive and one that keeps going silent.

Tool calling for real-time voice AI agents, not the request-response version you've seen a hundred times. The agent acts mid-conversation and the conversation doesn't break.

Three parts:
- The loop (declare, decide, execute, return, the model decides, your code acts)
- The same ability written two ways (a raw google-genai dict vs a plain Python function with a docstring in Google ADK)
-And the two rules that decide whether a live agent feels alive or broken, keep every tool instant, and put your policy in one before_tool_callback.

There's a checkpoint before execution. In ADK it's before_tool_callback, and it sees every tool call before the tool runs. The demo is a quiet-hours rule: the model tries to play something loud, the callback catches it, the playlist never runs, and the agent still responds in character.

Chapters:
0:00 - Demo: an agent that acts mid-conversation
0:27 - What you'll learn (three parts)
0:55 - Why the model can only produce words
1:13 - A menu of abilities: name, description, when to use it
1:34 - The loop: declare, decide, execute, return
2:17 - Wrong tool called? Fix the description
2:46 - The raw SDK way: a dict and four arrows you wire
3:07 - The ADK way: a function with a docstring
3:41 - Adding a new ability: set_sleep_timer
4:00 - Demo: the new ability, live
4:18 - Who updates the UI: backend events to the browser
4:56 - Rule 1: tools are synchronous
5:54 - Rule 2: before_tool_callback
6:55 - Demo: the guardrail fires mid-conversation
7:18 - Why this matters when the agent gets a browser
7:51 - Recap: the loop, two ways, two rules
8:29 - Next: controlling a real browser by voice

<media:description>Are you tired of writing endless system prompts and praying your AI agents behave? Stop prompting and start routing!

In this video, Google Solutions Engineer Miguel Gutierrez joins Martin Omander to show you how to build reliable multi-agent apps. Instead of trying to prompt your way to agent coordination, you'll learn how to use the native graph-powered workflow primitives in Google's Agent Development Kit (ADK 2.0).

We walk step-by-step through a real-world demo: building a &quot;smart parser&quot; multi-agent application. You'll see how we take completely unstructured, chaotic data, like forwarded emails, messy Slack transcripts, and raw PagerDuty logs, and clean it up using deterministic multi-agent workflows.

If you have a problem that requires reasoning, multi-source coordination, and self-correction, ADK workflows are the solution.

<media:description>Want to leverage Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) but aren't sure where to start? In this video, Olivier (Developer Advocate at Google) introduces Bank of Anthos—an open-source, cloud-native retail banking sample application designed to demonstrate enterprise app modernization on Google Cloud. Learn about the 7-microservice architecture (built in Python and Java with PostgreSQL databases), how to simulate real traffic using the built-in load generator, and how quickly you can deploy it to a GKE Autopilot cluster via Google Cloud Shell.

Ready to try it out? Visit the Bank of Anthos GitHub repository to get started: https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/bank-of-anthos

<media:description>A real-time voice agent isn't a request and response. Build voice AI like a normal API call — send, wait, get an answer — and you'll fight it the whole way.

A live agent never really stops. One loop is streaming your audio in. Another loop is streaming the model's audio back. Both are happening at the same time, and neither one can wait for the other.

That's why Google ADK gives you a LiveRequestQueue. Think of it as a conveyor belt: your app keeps putting audio chunks on, the live session keeps taking them off. Events come back the other way — voice, captions, tool calls, interruptions.

The key idea: you're not calling the agent once, you're feeding a running live system. That's the shift that makes voice AI feel real-time instead of robotic, and it's the same pattern every multimodal agent uses once you add images and screen frames to that same session.

In this video, we built a real-time voice agent you can talk over with Google ADK. Not a speech-to-text pipeline — one open connection, audio streaming both directions at the same time.

Three parts:
 * The architecture (browser, WebSocket, backend, Gemini Live, and why live voice is a phone call and not a walkie-talkie)
* The ADK building blocks (describe an Agent, hand it to a Runner, keep the Session in memory)
* The live loop, where the LiveRequestQueue decouples the two audio directions so neither one blocks the other.

Plus the two things people get wrong: send_realtime() for continuous streams vs send_content() for complete input, and why you keep sending audio even when nobody's talking.
