iPhone 18 pro will not install a VPN profile

iPhone 18 pro with ios 27.0 will not install a VPN connection profile. I have tried multiple mainstream VPN apps (e.g. NordVPN and Open VPN Connect) as well as manual VPN profile and the phone does not accept the new profile. It provides no error messages.

You should take guidance directly from your VPN service provider to understand how their VPN is configured and enabled on an iPhone. Although iOS provides built-in support for VPN connections, the actual setup process can vary significantly depending on the VPN provider, the VPN protocol being used, and whether the provider requires a dedicated app, configuration profile, or manual settings.

Some VPN services can be enabled simply by installing their iPhone app and signing in, while others may require you to install a configuration profile or enter specific server addresses, authentication details, certificates, or other parameters under Settings > General > VPN & Device Management or Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN.

Therefore, there is no single procedure that applies to every VPN service. The VPN provider should provide the correct instructions for its particular service and explain any settings or permissions that need to be enabled on the iPhone. If the VPN is not connecting or disconnects unexpectedly, the provider is also the appropriate source for troubleshooting its server, account, protocol, and configuration requirements.

Are you required by your school or employer to use a VPN on your iPhone? If yes, they should provide it. If no, why do you think you need a VPN in the first place. They most certainly DON'T provide the security people have been led to believe they do. Actually, quite the opposite as most "garden variety" VPN's harvest your online history and sell it to anyone willing to pay for it. Most banking apps won't work with a VPN. And VPNs cause all sorts of connectivity issues on iPhone. Simply said, they aren't needed.
